In 1974 Dan began his farming carrer by partnering with his father Albert Ryan in a very humble begining. He rented 32 acres just south of Decatur IL and bought half interest in 24 sows. Over the course of the next 8 years he expanded his sow herd as well as increased his land base to 280 Acres.

In 1982 Dan chose to forego what he had built with his father at an opportunity to move south of Taylorville, IL (see About Us page). As the years progressed the livestock became less of staple in the Operation and the land base for row crop kept growing.
